Mrs. Margaret Idileola, Akinwumi, Director of Education, GL 17 was born on 2nd April, 1959 in Ondo Town, Ondo State. She started her elementary education in 1965 at Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Mission School in Ondo and had her Primary School Leaving Certificate in 1970. In 1972, she gained admission into Saint Louis Secondary School, Ondo and passed out in 1977 with the West African Examination Council School Certificate. In 1978, she then proceeded to the University of Ilorin, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 1982.
During her teaching career, in order to be professionally qualified she went to University of Lagos to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and obtained the Certificate in 1987. In her quest for knowledge and in attempt to help growing youth particularly the adolescents to have a turbulent free transition to adulthood, she went back to University of Lagos to pursue a course in Guidance and Counseling. In 1997, she got a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Mrs. Akinwumi, M. I. started her teaching career in September, 1983 when she joined the Ondo State Teaching Service. She taught in two schools in Ondo town, Ondo State between September 1983 and March 1991 before she came on Inter – State Transfer. On absorption by the Defunct Lagos State Teaching Service in March 1991, she was posted to Jibril Martin High School, Agege.
At Jibril Martin High School, Agege she was a subject teacher and taught Biology between March1991 and November, 1999 and later was appointed as Vice Principal in the school between November 1999 and January 2002 in recognition of her hard work. During her stay at Jibril Martin High School, she added value to the Education of students and left her footprint. This was evident in students’ performance in Biology in the 1991/1992, 1994/1995 and 1996/1997 sets.
As a result of the return of schools back to the Missionaries (Anwar-Ur-Islam Movement of Nigeria), she was deployed to the then Alimoso TESCOM Zonal Office where she worked in various sections. At the Alimoso Zonal Office, she was recognized by her outstanding qualities which enabled her being selected as the Best Inspector for two consecutive years (2007 and 2008).
In 2010, as a result of re-distribution of staff to ensure that the right person was put in the right position, she was deployed to the District Headquarter in Agege to Head the Counseling Unit in the Schools’ Administration Department.
As a result of her wealth of experience in the Inspectorate, she was deployed to the Disciplinary Unit in the then Personnel Department as Head in 2012.
In 2014, when the District was included in the Pilot MDAs to start the implementation of Human Resource Management, she was deployed to Administration Division as head of the Division.
She is presently the Head of Department, Administration and Human Resource in Education District 1, Agege.
She had the opportunity to attend trainings both locally and internationally during the course of her career.
She is a member of many professional bodies among which are Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute for Training and Development, and Counseling Association of Nigeria.
Mrs. Akinwumi, M. I. is a woman of high integrity, dedicated and hardworking who does not compromise standard as laid by the Government but fair and just to all. She has a good human relationship and shows empathy to the cause of others.
