LAGOS – The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary Education District I, in Lagos State, Dr. Olufolayinka Ayandele has stressed the need for music to be encouraged in schools towards stimulating intellectual advancement.
She also stated that Education District 1, would continue to appeal to the intrinsic values of the students so as to make learning more interesting.
Ayandele, who said this in Lagos at the 2015 first ever annual Christmas Carol Concert, noted that music is a vehicle for achieving sound and functional education in Nigeria.
She said: “This concert was put together to show appreciation to our show appreciation to our maker. it is also aimed at showcasing the innate abilities of our students and prepare them for future musical competitions both locally and internationally.
“The focus of the administration of Education District I is to appeal to the intrinsic values of our children so as to make learning more interesting, even if the external environment is not that conducive”.
The best legacy we can bequeath to our children and nation is sound and functional education, music is a means of achieving this.
“A total of 200 mass choir was put together by the District in partnership with Foursquare Gospel Church, Christ Embassy, Uno Noodles and other donors.”
